Clinics and Services
Ante-Natal Care
Regular antenatal checks with a GP can help make sure you have a healthy pregnancy. The midwives based at Woodlands Health Centre are also happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have about your pregnancy and birth or other maternity healthcare needs.
- When: Wednesdays 9am to 11am
Baby Clinic
Our Baby Clinic is not just a place where you get your newborn weighed and measured. At Woodlands Health Centre, we provide our mothers with information and advice on health issues, immunisation, concerns about feeding or sleeping. It’s also a great place to meet with other mothers.
- When: Tuesdays 9am to 11am
Cervical Screening: Smear Tests
Women aged between 24 and 64 should have a cervical screening every 3 to 5 years to help prevent cervical cancer. The screening is quick and painless and can be done here in the practice.
If you are aged over 24 and have never had a smear test, or if it has been more than 3 to 5 years since your last screening, you should arrange an appointment with our Practice Nurse. You should not have the test while you are having a period or in the 4 days before or after your period as this can affect the sample.
Childhood Immunisations
If a vaccine is given when a baby still has antibodies to the disease, the antibodies can stop the vaccine working. This is why routine childhood immunisations do not start until a baby is two months old, before the antibodies a baby gets from its mother have stopped working.
This is also why it is important for parents to stick to the immunisation schedule, as a delay can leave a baby unprotected. A delay can increase the chance of adverse reactions to some vaccines, such as pertussis (whooping cough).
Covid Vaccination

Diabetes, asthma and hypertension can seriously impact upon your quality of life. Woodlands Health Centre provides advice, information and support for patients who have, or believe they have, any of these conditions.
HELP is an online platform that is here to give advice and guidance in ways you can control your type 2 diabetes.
Family Planning Clinic
We run a Family Planning Clinic providing free and confidential advice and information about contraception and sexual health. The clinic is available to women, men and young people 16 years and older. Appointments must be booked with Dr. Wilton. Alternatively, you can see the Practice Nurse.
